OCT AT THE MONMOUTHSHIRE SHOW

from Cedric Gibbons

Two photos of our milkmaids in the Monmouthshire Farmers Marquee which celebrated 100 Years of Dairy Farming.

Deanna and Emily (top) and Ellie and Zoe (centre) helped the visitors to milk Molly the Milking Cow and assisted with butter making demonstrations.

It was a cold, damp and dismal day but the milkmaids in their lovely costumes lifted the spirits of the visitors to the tent.

Dorothy  and Cedric were outside in the mud and wet, taking part in the Pageant of the Horse. This was organised by the Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies (more commonly known as the Horse Hospital).

They helped to  depict the World War I story of the horses which were taken into battle, of which so few returned.

The Countryside Ring was compered by ex-Chairman of OCT, farmer David Price. At the end of the day he asked, on behalf of the Monmouthshire Farmers, that his thanks be given to the girls for all their help.
